Developing and Facilitating Leadership
0
As discussed in Alberta Education’s document on the Principal Quality Standard, a principal that develops and facilitate leadership “promotes the development of leadership capacity within the school community –- students, teachers and other staff, parents, school council for the overall benefit of the school community and education system.“
I felt I have met the criteria by doing the following:
- Consistently engaging staff in discussions and conversations , both physically and online through networking about issues and trends in education and pedagogy.
- Participated and engaged in Profession Development presentations as part of our schools professional learning community. This has allowed colleagues to highlight their strengths and expertise. Also provided feed back to colleagues and teams about their success and areas of improvement.
- Communicated with supervisors in regards to my opinions and suggestions as to which staff bring expertise and experiences to our school in a variety of areas.
- Engage and accessed staff for answers and direction in their areas of knowledge and experience to improve my teaching practices.
