Differentiated Practice

As discussed in Alberta Education’s document on the Teacher Quality Standards, an effective Teacher knows that there are many approaches to teaching and learning.

I would attempt to clarify that I have met the descriptors in this section by:

Using an effective variety of direct teaching, small group instruction and independent seat work combined with group work. This allows me to provide my students with varying levels of academic support.

Effectively transitions and shifting between and among students, therefore supporting students before they reach increased levels of frustration.

Designing and setting up my classroom to provide significant amounts of visual aid to benefit students. This would include a word wall, number line, and topic pictures that are used as cues.

Have adequately integrated subject areas, working to accomplish as much as possible during a compressed day.
